WHAT ARE OUR EXPECTATIONS FROM STUDENTS IN DESIGN FACTORY?

We expect students to develop design and solution-oriented projects where they will benefit from experiences of professionals and have the opportunity to gain experience on the job, and also to adapt to the employment process by doing internships.

We expect our students to develop their vision and creativity, to improve their work by making use of the studio and other units, and to seek consultancy and support from our academic representatives in this direction. In addition to these, we expect master-apprentice matching, design-oriented thinking, Creathon event, entrepreneurship, business development and consultancy services, preparation of the infrastructure for meeting with customers and investors, as well as the interaction of aspiring designers with each other, experts and customers.

 

WHAT ARE THE OPPORTUNITIES WE PROVIDE FOR STUDENTS IN DESIGN FACTORY?

Students will receive on-the-job training from professional designers and artists in accordance with the master-apprentice relationship, prepare their academic projects in a professional business environment, increase their creativity knowledge and skills by developing their projects with design-oriented thinking training, and try to establish their businesses with entrepreneurship training.

Entrepreneurial young creators will be provided with interdisciplinary opportunities for training, consultancy, mentoring and business development support.

 

The largest space in the trunk of the Design Factory's journey to the future is reserved for the ideas and dreams of 2nd/3rd and 4th year students at all universities in Istanbul and graduates who are under the age of 29. WHAT ARE EXPECTATIONS FROM PROFESSIONALS IN DESIGN FACTORY?

Professionals are those who work on their own account or for a business throughout the province, especially from the three districts around the Design Factory. We expect them to be able to turn their designs into commercial commodities by meeting with customers and investors, and to both ease their workload and also transfer their experience, knowledge and experience by taking young creators on their side as apprentices.

We expect professionals to participate in conferences, workshops and meetings, as well as freely create and interact with other disciplines to showcase their products and performances that will use these spaces.

 

WHAT ARE THE OPPORTUNITIES WE PROVIDE FOR PROFESSIONALS IN DESIGN FACTORY?

50 professional designers/artists will be able to work in a common area and embody their designs in their studios. They will be able to use the laboratory and workshop facilities to develop projects and conduct joint grant projects. In addition, they will be able to benefit from our prototyping workshops. They will also be able to participate in open office services, sending addresses, receiving mail, using meeting rooms and cultural-artistic activities offered by IKU.

WHAT DO WE AIM FOR IN ACADEMIC RESEARCH PLATFORM?

A wide academic network that can guide the process with comprehensive research and quality questions that develop ideas and experience with a new perspective, make them think and question, has a special place in the Design Factory. We aim to create a Multidisciplinary working environment in our factory. Our main goal in the Academic Research Platform is for our academicians to create a working environment together and publish articles on creative industries, develop projects among themselves, provide the conditions to support students and set their hearts on this work, apply to grant programs, and in addition, have our academicians publish books and reports among themselves.

WHAT ARE OUR EXPECTATIONS FROM OUR ACADEMIC REPRESENTATIVES?

The main purpose of our project is to focus on the creative industries. Our academic representatives are expected to nurture and inform our students by creating course content in the field of creative industries by connecting with their connections and networks, reaching industries and businesses. Within the design factory, academicians are expected to give training courses and plant in the latest product development and prototyping methods offered by technology to our students so that interdisciplinary teams can develop innovative product ideas and prototypes.
